This week, we’ve shared amazing stories from women across Ferguson Marine. Their inspiring journeys show the many ways careers can grow – from apprenticeships to leadership.
For Charlene, Ferguson Marine has always been close to home – and to heart. “Growing up, I remember driving past the shipyard and feeling a sense of pride in its presence and importance to our community”, she says. “Now, being part of that story is incredibly special.”
After joining Ferguson Marine as Executive Assistant to the CEO and Board, Charlene has grown her career into a senior leadership role, overseeing Business Support, PR and Communications, Document Control, and the Executive Office. “I’ve learned so much from the people here – their guidance and support have helped me grow both personally and professionally.”
She believes shipbuilding offers something for everyone, regardless of background:
“Shipbuilding is a fantastic industry with opportunities for people of all genders. If you’re determined and passionate, you can achieve anything.”
For Charlene, supporting local careers is about building a stronger Inverclyde. “Investing in local talent keeps skills and pride in the community. It gives young people the chance to build fulfilling careers without needing to leave home.”
At Ferguson Marine, we’re proud to celebrate the women leading the way and inspiring others to shape the next chapter of Scotland’s shipbuilding story.
