What you’ll be doing:

Reporting to the Chair of Audit and Risk Committee, the Internal Audit and Risk Manager will be responsible for all Internal Audit activity, effectively documenting and managing the business risk to the company and engaging with stakeholders to implement and drive forwards continuous improvement.  This is a newly created role and an exciting opportunity to add value across the business.

Main Responsibilities:

• Define and drive the assurance, corporate governance and risk management agenda within the business.
• Create and manage internal audit standards, methodologies, tools and templates, ensuring they are in line with best practice.
• Develop and execute a comprehensive internal audit programme that addresses financial, operational, compliance and IT risks.
• Perform risk based audits, investigations and assessments across the organisation.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of internal controls, risk management processes and governance practices.
• Oversee and instruct external advisors to ensure a timely and valuable delivery.
• Communicate key finding and recommendations for improvement at the conclusion of each assurance review to the business, and drive stakeholder engagement.
• Track, monitor and report on implementation of management actions within agreed timeframes.
• Regular reporting on the delivery of the internal audit plan to the Audit Committee.
• Identify, assess and monitor key risks facing the organisation, including operational, financial, regulatory and strategic risks.
• Provide risk reporting to the Executive Board, ensuring proactive mitigation strategies are in place.
• Advise on the implementation of risk management practices, and ensure a risk-conscious culture throughout the company.

Required skills and Experience:

• Extensive experience in internal audit and risk management in a leadership role.
• Proven experience in working with audit and risk committees, senior management and external auditors.
• Strategic thinker with strong problem solving and analytic abilities.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels.
• Strong ethical foundation and high level of integrity.
• Proactive, forward thinker and able to anticipate emerging risks.
• Ability to work under pressure.
• Highly organised with attention to detail and accuracy.

Qualifications:

Fully qualified accountant with relevant post qualification experience.

• Qualified and highly experienced in a similar role.
• Hard-working, efficient and motivated by results.
• Ability to analyse and make recommendations, alongside the capacity to drive through key business changes.
• Strong business acumen.
• Experience of working with senior stakeholders and delivering key messages.
